Millions of people living near the epicenter are affected and thousands of people have lost their lives following the earthquakes, which are the deadliest worldwide in over a decade. The numbers of victims continues to rise, alongside the huge number of injured people, those who have lost their loved ones, their homes and their security due to this tragic natural disaster. At the same time, freezing temperatures pose a danger to the lives of the survivors, many of whom lack a roof over their heads.
The Bitten & Mads Clausen’s Foundation, which is the main shareholder in Danfoss A/S, has decided to donate 1 million DKK to support the victims of the violent earthquakes in Turkey and Syria. The money will be donated to Save the Children to help with their work for the many children and young people affected by this disaster.
Per Egebæk Have, Chairman of the Bitten & Mads Clausen’s Foundation, says in connection with the donation:
“Danfoss has employees in Turkey, and it has made a big impression on everyone in the Foundation to see and hear about the many victims of the earthquakes in both Turkey and Syria. Danfoss’ facilities are located more than 1,000 km away from the epicenter and the team is safe, but millions of other people in the region are not. With this extraordinary donation from the Bitten & Mads Clausen’s Foundation, we want to support the humanitarian efforts for the affected children and their families.”
