Bitten & Mads Clausen’s Foundation joins Alsik and its restaurant Syttende (the Seventeenth) in welcoming the award of a Michelin star. This means that Sønderborg has received its first star in the Michelin Guide.
Syttende is located at Hotel Alsik in Sønderborg, and the restaurant is headed by chef Jesper Koch, the hotel's gastronomic director.
Steigenberger Alsik Hotel and Spa is built and owned by Bitten & Mads Clausen’s Foundation, in part of the Town’s Harbour in Sønderborg. The hotel opened in May 2019.
From the very beginning, there was a strong desire to operate a gourmet restaurant on the seventeenth floor of the hotel. The quality had to be high, and indeed so high that the restaurant would be worthy of achieving the honour of a Michelin star.
It is therefore a great pleasure for the Foundation, and for everyone involved, that it has now succeeded only two years after opening – and despite a time of great upheaval and closures due to Covid-19.
