It is exactly one year ago today on October 29th, 2021, that Bitten and Mads Clausen’s Foundation celebrated its 50th anniversary.
At the event that day, the Foundation asked that any birthday presents be made in the form of contributions to the anniversary account. This resulted in a tidy sum of money, which Bitten & Mads Clausen’s Foundation subsequently doubled.
A big thank you goes to everyone who followed up the invitation and made a donation to the jubilee account. They, together with the Foundation, will appreciate knowing that the money will be spent on something that will be used and enjoyed by many.
It has been decided to set aside the jubilee money in order to establish a ‘50 Year Jubilee Garden’ in the forthcoming Town Park, which will be laid out at the same time as the final buildings completing the Town Harbour, namely Danfoss House, the Senior Living Community and a 14-storey residential building. In the urban park behind these buildings, a space with benches will be created, inviting people to linger and enjoy the green surroundings.
The preliminary plans for the design of the 50 Year Jubilee Garden can be seen on the drawing below. It is envisaged that seating will be set among a varied selection of trees, shrubs, and grasses. This will ensure making the garden a pleasant green space for all the Town Park visitors to enjoy.
The exact schedule has not yet been established
Although the project has been confirmed, it is still only at sketch level. The timetable for the ‘50 Year Jubilee Garden’ has not been drawn up. It will follow the final construction work in the Town Harbour. This will be a 14-storey apartment block, currently on the drawing board. So, there is still something new to look forward to in the Town Harbour, not only in terms of accommodation but also in terms of greenery and nature.
The photo below, taken by a drone before the building of the Senior Living Community and Danfoss House had started, shows the position of the three building plots on the North Plot with the area for the town park behind. The location of the 50th Anniversary Garden is shown with the yellow oval dot.
The Foundation's website features news from its 50th Jubilee in 2021. For the jubilee, the Foundation donated to Sønderborg Municipality a swimming pool in the harbour and an extension to Skansen. A film was also made about the Foundation and its work.
