The chairman of Bitten and Mads Clausen’s Foundation received an extra present on his 70th birthday.
Peter M. Clausen was the first person to be named as an Honorary Citizen of the new Municipality of Sønderborg. The honour was bestowed on him on his birthday on the 6th September 2019 at the reception in the Town Hall in Sønderborg.
When Peter M. Clausen arrived at the Town Hall just before 11 am, he was unaware of the announcement. It had been kept secret from him, and therefore it came as a lovely surprise.
Explaining why Peter M. Clausen was honoured, Mayor Erik Lauritzen placed particular importance on the fact that Peter Clausen, as Chairman of the Bitten and Mads Clausen’s Foundation, has been behind decisions of great importance to the Sønderborg area. Big building projects such as Alsion, Alsik and the forthcoming holiday resort on Nordals, were mentioned.
Peter M. Clausen is also chairman of the Manufacturer Mads Clausen’s Foundation which also supports smaller projects. For example, it helps voluntary associations for the elderly and the vulnerable, sports clubs and heritage projects. Unlike with Bitten & Mads Clausen’s Foundation, it is possible to apply for support from Manufacturer Mads Clausen’s Foundation, which distributes funds four times a year.
Anne-Dorthe Clausen, Peter M. Clausen’s life companion of 47 years, was given a bouquet in recognition of her support and hard work.
