In the summer of 2017 a total of 40,000 scouts will set up their tents at Kær Vestermark in Sønderborg. The theme for the camp is “We Leave Impressions" and this not only refers to the footprints the scouts leave behind with their boots, but it also refers to the imprints that the scouts leave on one another and on their surroundings. In recognition of this theme, the camp wishes to leave a permanent “imprint”, also for Kær Vestermark and for the citizens of the Municipality of Sønderborg.
Pursuant to this wish the Scout Camp asked Bitten & Mads Clausen’s Foundation for a donation to the project called: ”From Scout Camp to Oasis of the City – stage area and paths”.
The goal of the project is to establish pathways and a stage area that will make Kær Vestermark an asset to the town, also after the scouts have left the city. This will include improving the accessibility to the area as well as the creation of facilities to hold large outdoor concerts and events. Year-round citizens and tourists can use the pathways for walking, biking or horse riding to the recreational area. The stage area will have a capacity of up to 100,000 people, and will thus give Sønderborg the opportunity to host major cultural events.
The donation that Bitten & Mads Clausen’s Foundation has made to the project’s activities, has been earmarked for the establishment of the stage area and the pathways.
