On the shore of Alssund in Sønderborg, lies a community for senior citizens with 44 individual apartments, all of which have a view of the water. Residents share communal facilities including a kitchen, activity room, workshop, and library. Outside there are recreational areas, terraces, and a communal greenhouse.
All but 6 apartments are currently rented out and there is a lot of activity in the houses.
The community for senior citizens is part of the Town's Harbour and was built by PFA, with support from Bitten & Mads Clausen's Foundation. It is made up of three buildings of varying heights which were constructed from January 2021 to August 2022. The first residents moved in in September 2022, at a time when the outdoor areas were still being laid out and finalized.
The entire construction phase was documented via a camera on top of Alsion. From there, images were taken at regular intervals at all hours of the day and all year round. Now that the construction and the surrounding areas have been completed, the many images have been sorted and compiled into a time-lapse video that shows the progress of the construction in about 2 minutes.
