For the second year in a row, Sønderborg was honoured at Danish Travel Awards

The Danish Travel Awards are organised by the trade media Check-in.dk, Standby.dk and Turisme24, and on 2nd October they held their prestigious awards ceremony for the travel, tourism, and aviation industry for the 27th time. The event took place in the Circus Building in Copenhagen, attended by more than 500 decision-makers from across the travel industry in Denmark and Scandinavia.

Among the participants were representatives from Alsik Hotel & Spa and Alsie Express, who were nominated in their respective categories.

Facts about Alsik

Alsik Hotel & Spa has 190 rooms, an extensive spa and wellness centre, a large meeting and conference area and Sergenten (the Sergeant) – an event and concert venue. The hotel was built by Bitten & Mads Clausen's Foundation, which is still the owner of the hotel.

This year, Sønderborg once again proved that it has something that is worth honouring. Both Alsie Express and Hotel Alsik were honoured – for the second year in a row – with great awards that underline their high standards.

Alsie Express won the award for Best Domestic Flight, and with their concept of extra legroom, timeliness, and local charm, they have found the best way to impress with the route between Sønderborg and Copenhagen.

Also, for the second year in a row, Hotel Alsik was voted Best Luxury Hotel. Their world-class gastronomic experiences, spa luxury and warmth, and sustainability as a cornerstone, have set a great standard.

The CEO of Alsik Hotel & Spa, Martin Johanning, says:

The award is a great recognition for Alsik and all of our employees. We are very proud of the importance the hotel has achieved in a short time. Alsik is a beacon that attracts many tourists and increases awareness of the town and the region. And that was exactly the ambition for the hotel.

Jesper Koch, COO and gastronomic manager at the hotel, is – like Alsik – a true South Jutlander. He adds:

Our mission with Alsik was to create a 4-star hotel on par with the guests. We did not see Alsik as a luxury hotel, but the concept of luxury has changed. We go to great lengths and prioritise presence and interacting with our guests. This is modern-day luxury. That is why our employees are our most important resource, and this award is their achievement.

In addition to being a well-deserved tribute to the two companies and their talented employees, the awards are also a great recognition of Sønderborg as a region. The local ability and willingness to join forces to create attractive experiences with a high level of service has contributed to Sønderborg becoming a strong destination for both business and pleasure.

Sønderborg and Southern Jutland mean a lot to us. We say ‘mojn’, we use local ingredients and have strong local roots. Alsik is not just a hotel that happens to be located in Southern Jutland. We are a South Jutlandic hotel. Southern Jutland has created and shaped Alsik, and we are proud of our region: The people, the traditions, and the amazing ingredients.

Bitten & Mads Clausen's Foundation congratulates all employees at both Alsik Hotel & Spa and Alsie Express on the great awards.
