Sønderborg's entrepreneurial environment gets a significant boost with the launch of STEAR Venture. The initiative is backed by the Danish Industry Foundation, Bitten & Mads Clausen's Foundation, and LINAK, who have established the investment company Sønderborg Startup Capital and injected the initial capital.

Sound Fund Services

Sønderborg Startup Capital is managed by Sound Fund Services and is open to both local and national investors. The initiative ensures a broad and effective platform that promotes business development and job creation in Sønderborg.

The shared vision is to strengthen the local entrepreneurial environment and attract more external investors. This will create long-term growth and opportunities in Sønderborg, ensuring a local environment where innovative companies can grow.

One of the first companies to benefit from the initiative is the AI innovator 2AI. They have already raised DKK 5 million and expect to grow from 18 to more than 100 employees by 2028.

STEAR Venture is more than just capital – it is about building a community and an entrepreneurial culture that can attract talent and investors from all over Denmark.

Mikkel Christoffersen, CEO of STEAR

In a broader setup, STEAR also has a strong partnership with the Ministry of Industry, Business and Financial Affairs, the Municipality of Sønderborg, and SDU. They all support making Sønderborg a powerhouse for innovative startups by attracting, supporting, and developing the next generation of local growth companies.

The official launch of STEAR Venture and Sønderborg Startup Capital will take place on November 23, 2026.
